Privacy policy

OrbGrab (“the app”) is made by Gulshan Siwana. In short: OrbGrab has no servers, no accounts, no ads and no analytics. Nothing you grab or send ever reaches us.

Camera

OrbGrab uses your device’s front camera to recognise hand gestures (an open hand and a fist). Camera frames are analysed on your device only, a few times a second, and are immediately discarded. They are never recorded, saved or sent anywhere. With Background mode on, the camera stays on while you use other apps; it stops while the screen is off or locked, and you can turn Background mode off at any time.

Accessibility service

OrbGrab uses Android’s Accessibility service only at the moment you make the grab gesture in another app, to:

• read the web address shown in your browser,
• press that app’s own Share → Copy link (YouTube, Instagram) or Share → OrbGrab (gallery apps), or
• take a screenshot of the screen.

It does not read or record the screen at any other time, and what it reads is used only to send that item to your own devices.

Notification access

OrbGrab uses notification access only to see which video or song is playing (its title and position), so the device you send it to can continue from the same point, and to pause it after sending. It does not read your messages or other notifications.

Clipboard

After pressing an app’s “Copy link”, OrbGrab reads the clipboard once to get that link. A received text item is placed on your clipboard.

Photos and videos (full version only)

The version from this website may ask for access to photos and videos to find the photo or video open in your gallery and send the original file. The Google Play version does not ask for this.

What is sent, and where

When you grab something, it is sent directly to your own devices that you paired by scanning a QR code, over your local network (Wi-Fi). Devices prove they are in your group before anything is exchanged. The transfer is not routed through the internet or any server, and it is not encrypted in transit beyond your Wi-Fi network’s own protection. Items you receive are saved on that device (for example in Downloads/OrbGrab) or opened.

What we collect

Nothing. OrbGrab does not collect, store or share personal data, and does not include advertising or analytics SDKs.

Children

OrbGrab is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
